The Taman Pudu Ulu parkrun organisers were convinced that like the roads, the first day of Chinese New Year would be a quiet one at Taman Pudu Ulu. We were pleasantly surprised to see 83 people turn up to celebrate, including a large number of our Chinese community.
We had a great turnout of 26 tourists hailing from the UK, Australia and Nepal, and some joining in while ‘balik kampung' to Malaysia for the CNY holidays. We were delighted to welcome 3 Malaysian first-time-ever parkrunners and many fellow park users who enquired about coming along to future events.
In support of the occasion many wore red, but the outfit prize of the day went to our tail-walker, Brenda iridescent in her gold cheongsam. Two boxes of mandarin oranges awaited the finishers (although in all the excitement we forgot they were there until pack-up time!)
Congrats to Mark Dobson, who finished in a time of 19 min and 6 secs, with our ever-consistent Julie Foreman, coming in as first lady, narrowly piping the 22 min post with a time of 21min 59s.
Special mention to our junior parkrunner Seng Wei Yip who has had four parkrun personal bests (PBs) in a row along with Aisling Murray and Amirul Asyraf BOKHAIRI doing three consistent parkrun PBs. It is lovely to see them all progressing with frequent participation. Not to be outdone by his brother, Seng Wei Hong, had a 33 second PB. For those whose personal best days are behind them, well done for getting out of bed and finishing, and even better if you had a smile on your face while doing so!
A big thank you to those who filled the parkrun roster last Saturday. You all deserve your place in parkrun heaven!
