Taman Pudu Ulu parkrun Event #14 Run Report

 

On 14th July we had a total of 57 runners, joggers and walkers for our 14th Taman Pudu Ulu parkrun, including visitors from Singapore, UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. With it being World Cup Final weekend, it was great to see our regular Queensville Rangers runners adorned in various national football team kits. There were 10 new PBs and 11 first timers at our event, including 1 who completed their first ever parkrun.
In first place was our junior runner Ong Hou Seng in a new PB of 21:30, followed by first time visitor from Newcastle UK, David Walker in 21:58 and in third place Paul Jenkins from Australia in 22:49. Vincent Wong was once again our highest age-graded runner finishing in 23:10 in fourth place. Our first female finisher was Natalie Richie, another visitor, this time from Singapore, with a time of 25:49, followed by Zaliza Zulkafli in 27:53 and Pek Yit Choi in 30:38. A special mention also to another of our first time visitors, Pablo Serazio , who was running his 33rd parkrun at his 32nd different parkrun event.
After the finish, we adjourned to the nearby Havva Restaurant for some traditional Malaysian breakfast.

Taman Pudu Ulu parkrun Event #13 Run Report

Taman Pudu Ulu parkrun held our 13th Event on 7h July – we had a total of 73 participants who ran, jogged, or walked the 5 km course, including visitors from UK, Australia and Poland. There were 17 new PBs and 16 first timers at our event, including 6 who completed their first ever parkrun.
We welcomed back Cyrl Colins Sukim after a few weeks absence and he was first home after a solo run in a time of 18:54. Michal Wojciechowski, visiting from Warsaw in Poland was second in 21:20 and Vincent Wong was third in 22:05, recording the highest age graded score. Our first female finisher in a time of 25:35 was Cathy Hamilton, who was visiting with her family all the way from Antrim in Northern Ireland, followed by Wan May Loke in 28:38 and Samantha Best in 29:18, both recording PBs.
After the finish, we adjourned to the nearby Havva Restaurant for some traditional Malaysian breakfast.

Taman Pudu Ulu parkrun Event #12 Run Report

Event #12 of Taman Pudu Ulu parkrun had 69 wonderful runners/walkers, 15 cheerful volunteers and a great community that included families of the runners/walkers and volunteers. 7 people ran/walked their first ever parkrun and 5 volunteers volunteered at parkrun for the first time. 21 PBs were recorded at Event #12, amazing effort! The Taman Pudu Ulu parkrun team congratulates all parkrunners and volunteers for facilitating a smooth parkrun on 30 June 2018 at Taman Pudu Ulu.

This week, we were visited by members of parkrun UK, parkrun Ireland and parkun Australia.

From Australia, Tony Hunt of Campbelltown parkrun joined us for Event #12.

From the United Kingdom, we had Kim White of Cornwall parkrun and Asari Rashid of Newcastle parkrun with us. Matthew Peleszok of Market Harborough parkrun also joined us, finishing first overall. He is currently travelling with his family around South East Asia and is committed to run 5K every day. Lastly, not forgetting Jon Forster of Bushy parkrun who returned for his 4th attempted at Taman Pudu Ulu parkrun. He managed a PB by 18 seconds.

Next, we had our first ever visitor from Ireland. Sandra Lawler Bissett of Oldbridge parkrun made Taman Pudu Ulu parkrun the first parkrun she attempted in Asia.

It was lovely to meet our visitors and we hope that they had amazing memories to take home.

Matthew PELESZOK 17:58 – Finished first overall & first timer

Todd THORNBACK 19:16 – Finished second overall

Ong HOU SENG 21:31 – Finished fourth overall & a new PB by 31 seconds

Our first three female finishers were:

Julie FOREMAN 21:22 – Finished third overall

Abbey FEWELL 21:32 – Finished fifth overall & a new PB by 13 seconds

Zaliza ZULKAFLI 27:50 – Finished twenty fourth overall

A friendly reminder – There will be NO parkrun on 21 July 2018 because there will be another event (the Taylor's International School Kuala Lumpur Charity Run) taking place from 7:30am to 11am on the same day.
